Protest book, 1840-1845.

The protest book is a register of notes protested by the Branch Bank due to the non-payment of the notes by the Bank's debtors. Included are the protest number, the date on which the protest is being filed, the original amount of the note, the date of the original transaction, the name of the person or firm who signed the promissory note, the name of the endorser, the name of the person to whom the notice of protest is being sent, and the amount of protest fees.
